We welcome you to Metropolitan Mortuary. Metropolitan Mortuary was established in 2012 and is independently owned, operated and invested. After ten years of working at Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary in Whittier and nine years of at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary in Inglewood, Shun Newbern moved on and opened the first funeral establishment in Jurupa Valley / Rubidoux community in more than 50 years. The Metropolitan Team includes the talents of Shun Newbern, Julie R. Dulin, and Yoshika Lewis-Brown who offer many years of experience in the funeral profession. Shun is also continuing his gratifying mentorship program by shaping Cypress College students.
For two decades Shun Newbern has cared for the needs of grieving families as a skilled and accomplished embalmer. This mortician’s skills include personalized memorial services and passionate graveside manner. He has serviced indigent veterans, the unclaimed and the notable. His passion for excellence has brought him into various mortuaries as a trade embalmer for the sensitive and confidential care of celebrities as well.
Jurupa Valley is very much like his childhood environs in Tennessee. After moving from Memphis, Tennessee to attend college in the early 90’s at San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Shun Newbern moved to Central Los Angeles where he supervised the fourth largest mortuary in the area. Years later he was offered a supervising position for the Nation’s largest mortuary. He is proud to bring his talent and passion to the Inland Empire.
